Be certain to catch Camaron on Friday, October 15, 2021, in one of this year’s opening day Reel Magic Hour industry online panels. This live interview will feature Camaron discussing his new Netflix smash hit series, Clickbait.

From Newsweek:

How Many Episodes of 'Clickbait' Are There and Will There Be a Season 2?

Since it debuted on Netflix in late August, Clickbait has won scores of fans worldwide and has secured a spot in the platform's Top 10 chart. Centered on the kidnapping of Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier), the mystery series delves into the world of cybercrime and examines how technology can both help and impede a criminal investigation.

Over the course of the show, the mystery shrouding Nick's character—and the events that led to his kidnapping—start to come together, as more and more secrets about him and his family are revealed. After a series of pulse-racing chase scenes, dramatic revelations and complicated relationships, the show culminates in an explosive ending—full of yet more twists and unexpected turns.

While the storyline is tied up neatly, that hasn't stopped fans from wanting more. So, will there be another series of Clickbait? Here's the lowdown...In total, there are eight episodes of Clickbait, available to stream now on Netflix.

Each episode focuses on a different player in the game, starting with Pia's relationship to Nick and her discovery that he's missing. In the suspenseful opener, viewers not only root for Pia and the police to beat the clock, they learn more about her strained relationship with her brother, which, in part, spurs her on in her quest.

The other episodes then focus on Detective Roshan Amir, Nick's wife Sophie (played by Betty Gabriel), his alleged mistress Emma Beesly (Jessie Collins), a reporter named Ben Park (Abraham Lim), the brother of one of Nick's supposed girlfriends (Daniel Henshall), and Nick's son Ethan (Camaron Engels).

The riddle is then unpacked in the eighth and final episode.

From the offset, Netflix has promoted Clickbait as a limited series, meaning the platform has no designs to create a follow-up. That said, it is not unheard of for limited series to be extended…

Netflix Series Soars to Top of Nielsen Streaming Chart

Netflix keeps their viewership numbers close to the chest, but the latest Nielsen Ratings prove that not only are some of their recent shows are pulling massive numbers, but the shows that they acquired from more traditional networks are paying off.

Deadline reports that  Lucifer, which just wrapped its six-season run…had a total of 1.05 billion minutes viewed In the week of Sept. 6-12. However…Lucifer was edged out of the top spot by another Netflix original.

Clickbait, a thriller starring Entourage’s Adrian Grenier was number one with 1.1 billion total viewing minutes that week. It is important to note as well that while Lucifer has 93 episodes available to stream, Clickbait only has 8.

Clickbait was huge for Netflix right away, jumping straight to the No. 1 series spot on the streaming within the first few days of its release, and it's still a hot topic. Reviews for the show have been mixed, but many fans seem to have been hooked by its premise. Clickbait is a drama about the cognitive dissonance of social media, and the gulf between a person's behavior online and in real life.

From IndieWire:

‘Clickbait’ Easily Tops Nielsen’s Streaming Rankings for the Second Straight Week. Netflix is still the streaming service to beat thanks to its hugely popular "Clickbait" series

For the second week in a row,  Netflix’s “Clickbait” drama series was the most-viewed original streaming television show of the week, per Nielsen’s latest report.

The series was viewed for 1,460 million minutes from August 30 to September 5, garnering more than thrice the views of Netflix’s “Money Heist,” which was the second most-viewed title of the week, with 452 million minutes viewed.

Per Netflix, “Clickbait” focuses on Nick Brewer (Grenier), a loving father, husband, and brother, who one day suddenly and mysteriously disappears. A video appears on the internet of the badly beaten Nick holding a card that says, “I abuse women. At 5 million views, I die.” Is this a threat or a confession? Or both? As his sister (Kazan) and wife (Gabriel) rush to find and save him, they uncover a side of Nick they didn’t know existed.

It’s Offical: Clickbait is a Hit

Clickbait was released August 25, and has been in Netflix’s top 1 or 2 spot daily since release. Fans are lining up to praise the show and its actors. Episode seven, titled “The Son” revolves around Camaron’s character, Ethan Brewer, and it is a thrilling ride from start to finish.

Below are excerpts from a Screenrant synopsis:

The series follows the disappearance of Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier), a seemingly loving father, husband, and brother. The appearance of a video online of Nick holding a sign saying, "I abuse women.  At 5 million views, I die" throws Nick's supposedly perfect character into question with his sister Pia (Zoe Kazan) and wife Sophie (Betty Gabriel) forced to set aside their differences as they rush to find him. In doing so, they simultaneously uncover a previously unknown side of Nick, raising the question of how well do you really know someone?

Clickbait also stars Camaron Engels and Jaylin Fletcher as Nick and Sophie's sons Ethan and Kai, as well as Phoenix Raei as detective Roshan Amir, who unwittingly finds himself at the centre of the case and consequent media circus.

Following the Sundance World premiere of “R#J” reviewers and others commented:

“Williams’ magnificent cast counters disorder with their confident screen presence and theatrical muscles that stand out within the film’s unique atmosphere. The diverse and immensely talented ensemble is led by the affable Camaron Engels and angelic Francesca Noel, playing the star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet.”     -Variety

“One of the highlights (of this year’s Sundance) is Carey Williams’ R#J, produced by desktop cinema maven Timur Bekmambetov…R#J is well-acted…Camaron Engels is knockout as the yearning Romeo…Every character gets their due, not just Romeo and Juliet. In that way, R#J is a satisfying, polyphonically grand tale of intergenerational conflict. The actors infuse an immediacy to the Shakespeare dialogue that drives all the scenes.”     -Filmmaker Magazine

“As young Romeo (Camaron Engels) poses for a series of happy shots to share with his many followers, the camera still lingers on his face between snaps to show a very real person underneath all the gloss. He, like all the best Romeos before him, is just a horny teenage boy who is about to have his world upended by something close to love…Engels and Noel have the energy and the chemistry.”     -The IndieWire

“It (the film) works due to Williams’ direction and script, but mostly due to the unwavering commitment and talent of Francesca Noel and Camaron Engels. They are perfectly yoked in every way and the film doesn’t work without their strength and talent.” -The Curvy Film Critic

“Engels is preppy and smooth…it is undoubtedly impressive as to what Williams was able to achieve as a filmmaker and what his cast was able to convey as actors. Engels is a welcome successor to DiCaprio’s Romeo, and the infusion of culture and people of color into usually white-dominated stories will hopefully be maintained in retellings to come.”   -The Daily Bruin

“The cast enthusiastically digs into Shakespeare’s poetic words…Engels and Noel have the guileless sweetness of young lovers.”     -Screen Daily

“Romeo, he’s this quirky, lowkey hipster kid, but more lovable than you’ve ever known him…by giving Romeo and Juliet the freedom to be creative, weird, and unique, they are allowed to show their personalities. Making it so you can almost see them fall in love with who the other person is more than being romanced by words…This is the definitive Romeo and Juliet for me…R#J not only acts as a reminder that Shakespeare’s work is eternal, but also that Carey Williams is one to watch, as well as is his cast.”     -Wherever I Look.com

“The movie works mainly because of the magnetism and sincerity of its cast, who are giving it their all throughout. Engels and Noel have excellent chemistry, and their world is populated with charismatic, dynamic supporting players. Williams aims to keep the story fresh for the next generation…and he’s able to tap into the raw romance at the core of this star-crossed lovers’ tale.” -Slash Film.com

“ ‘R#J’ takes the world’s most ubiquitous love story, makes it relevant again and even manages to create something new…Camaron Engels, who plays Romeo, thinks the film will bring new love for Shakespeare—especially for kids who might get inspired, instead of doing what is typically set out for them based on the color of their skin.”  -USA Today

“Shoutout to the fantastic and diverse cast and creators of R#J who reimagined Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet for the social media generation. It just premiered at Sundance and I can’t wait to see who buys this new classic so everyone can fall in love.”  -Eva Longoria, actress
